The History Of North Port

North Port is a relatively young city, incorporated in 1959; it is said that builder Frank Mackle Jr, who developed much of the area, told his son at the time ‘someday, this flat land will be a great city’. Not only was Mackle right, his once-disbelieving son also went into the business.
The area is also rich in archeological/geological history, with nearby Warm Mineral Springs yielding intriguing and well-preserved finds .
